Question:

The high summer temperatures also have side effects on the surrounding desert and forests. With high warning to anyone visiting these areas should be enough to keep the area safe, but unfortunately not the case. This week’s Reader Poll asks the questions when the temperature is above 105 should the forest parks be closed? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you. (See other Readers’ opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

Closing the forest during a heat wave is not practical because the persons usually starting the fires can be mortorists driving down a road with a cigerrette or a lot of other ways not being a camper. Rachel J. Phoenix, AZ

During the summer it is great to go to the mountains to cool off, I would hate to see it close. We need more awareness of the fire dangers, not closing the forests. Donald Smith

I would hate to see it come to closing the parks in the forests but if it takes that to save them during the critical hot summers then I agreee. Kim D. Dallas, TX

No, keep them open. It should be a great place to find some much needed shade. William Lockhart Waterford
