Companies owning legal trademarks are targeting Las Vegas conventions to stop trademark infringements of various companies selling knock offs from China. Since Las Vegas has 20,000+ conventions per year, the crackdown is going to net some serious infractions. The value of knock offs sold for the upcoming 2015 year is expected to be $1.7+ trillion globally. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question, do you think it is a good or bad thing to try and clean up the vendors who sell knock offs from the Las Vegas conventions? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you. (See other Readers’ opinions below.)

Las vegas no counterfeit conventions

Reader Poll Replies:

Stoping fake or counterfeiters is a good thing. Keep the money going to the rightful developers and stops increaseing the Chinese economy. John S. Chicago IL

There are way to many counterfeit everything out in the market. I hope they can help put it to an end. Shirley Mars Texas

I think selling "knock offs" is stealing. Therefore I'm in favor of trying to stop vendors from selling these items. However, the makers and sellers of the originals could do their part also by not overcharging for the "originals". Given the choice between a reasonably priced original and a lower priced knock off I think most people would go for the original. It's like bringing your own snacks to the movies. It would happen a lot less if the theater charged a dollar for a dollar box of candy. William Lockhart Waterford NY

It is a good thing . Knock offs should not be sold products are usually inferior and those manufactors do not pay for trade marks fees but still use the companies logos. You would have more Americans employed if you could not buy cheap nock offs made in China. Paula Pesa

good idea to clean up-only licensed and real items should be allowed to be sold as the Real thing. Paul Schubring

Good clean up the vendors who sell knock offs from the Las Vegas conventions! Vendors should not be selling knock offs from China, period, at all! Peggy Geier

Everyone pays for counterfeit merchandise. The more counterfeits, the more the price of the real thing goes up. Disney viciously upholds its trademarks. Smaller companies need the same protections. They should arrest and charge All counterfeiters. If I sold counterfeit merchandise on EBay I would be charged. It's not different. Cynthia Ballard Battle Creek MI
