As stated in the IVLV newsletter this week two casino projects are expected to break ground on the Strip within the next year. This week’s Reader Poll asks . . . can Las Vegas accommodate more traffic going to the Strip area casinos or is it time to finally get the Las Vegas Monorail to operate from the airport to the casino corridor? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you. (See other Readers’ opinions below.)

Las vegas monorail, should it go to the airport?

Reader Poll Replies:

I think it is a crime it doesnt go to the airport to the casinos now. Why would anyone want to use something that is not complete. Joan S. Chicago IL

Yes, I am in favor of completing the monorail. Other cities have great public transit, what is wrong with Las Vegas? Mark Bowers

The monorail was one of the greatest ideas in Las Vegas yet remains one of the most underutilized! During a recent trip It seems nobody rides it anymore and all advertising revenue appears to have ended as the cars are all white. The envisioned spur to the airport would reduce traffic and make the monorail a viable means of transportation. Just figure out how to get the cab and shuttle operators to let it happen. A great idea left unfulfilled. Bob Port Washington, WI

Another good idea to help a city and a few money grabing cab and limo owners are going to spend millions fighting it. It is a shame that a progressive city like Las Vegas has a few people who get in the way of real progress. No other major city in the world handles the volume of tourist withou a rail system. Greed hurts Las Vegas one more time. Dale H. San Diego,CA

I'm for the monorail as long as we will be required to walk through the entire airport to get to it, as is the case with the casino stations. William Lockhart Waterford

The monorail was and is a true disappointment for Las Vegas. We are the only city of this size that lets a few cab owners dictate the future of the city transportation. The only way to grow is by monorail, not by cab. David L, Las Vegas NV
