The year 2014 may go down in history as the year of the remodel/redevelop for casinos in Las Vegas. The Cromwell opened, Las Vegas Hotel turned into the Westgate Las Vegas Resort Casino and on August 23 the $415 million remodel of the old Sahara turned into the SLS Las Vegas. This week’s Reader Poll asks . . . do you think other Las Vegas older casinos should remodel and turn themselves into a new casino or should they keep the old Las Vegas charm? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you. (See other Readers’ opinions below.)

I think someone should try to save the old vegas and not always tear down and change the names. Janet Honda

My opinon is new is better. I am tired of seeing some of these older hotels/casinos, they should all take the plunge and do a makeover. Linda James, Boston, MA

We all love the New and exciting Vegas, however, Las Vegas is rich with history which is quickly becoming non existent. Being able to visit the older places and Feel the history is important to maintain. I would hate to see all the old Gone and only be able to Read about it. Thanks for listening! Kathy Valley Fresno

If they can keep the old ones it would be nice however they usually stink and remodeling may not be a option. There are nice new ones but not too many to have the Las Vegas "old' charm. cindy Pisano Phoenix, AZ

I don't think remodels work in any form. The stigma of the failed predecessor seems to be very hard, if not impossible, to shake. That seems true whether they turn themselves into a new casino or not. It's better to tear it down and start fresh and charm be damned. Bill Lockhart Waterford

Being of an age where I remember the old casinos, I hate to see them all go. We need some history. Having just spent time in Europe, I realize how much we lack in history in our country. It seems our motto is - if it's old, tear it down. I can only hope some casinos stay the same to represent the past. Eleanor Nosky Canton
