Question:

University Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) will be seeking an increase in tuition. Not all funds collected get to the University. Tuition and fees collected by UNLV actually go to the state general fund and through the wisdom of lawmakers they decide how much money is given back to the schools. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question, do you think all money raised by UNLV should go directly to the school to spend as they need? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!  ( See other readers opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

I think a school should set the tuition to match their upcoming needs, not put money into the state fund so lawmakers can rob the money for other projects.  William L.

I went to UNLV and I think I got a great education for a decent price.  Maybe they should rethink the idea of letting lawmakers decide how much money to give back to the higher education facilities in Nevada.   Susan  Las Vegas NV
