One of the most unusual places on this planet is Death Valley, only 2+ hour drive from Las Vegas. Death Valley is popular for many reasons. This past week the World Meteorological Organization has concluded the 134-degree temperature posted on July 10, 1913 is the highest temperature ever recorded in the world. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question have you ever visited Death Valley and if you have, what was your experience?  Why or why not?   What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!  (See other readers’ opinions below.)

I visited Death Valley about 5 years ago and even though some say there is not much to see, the area is filled with beautiful nature surroundings and of course in the summer time is was unbelievably hot.   Majorie Foster   NY

My last trip to vegas i was suppose to take a tour and unfortunately my capanion got ill and we never got there.  I have always wanted to visit death valley.  John J.  Houston TX

Once we drove from las vegas to death valley and the drive was awesome.  The desert is so rich in colors and death valley does have a lot to see.  Yes it is almost unbarable in the summer but worth the trip.  Valerie Dawson  CA

No i have never visited death valley but it sounds interesting.  maybe on our next trip to las vegas.  thanks for telling me about another place to see near las vegas.  Donna Johnson  Chicago IL

I have never visited Death Valley National Park. I actually do not know exactly how far of a drive it is from Vegas. If it was a 2 hour drive we may do that...but any more than that probably not.  Lynne Lindahl   Sussex, WI
