The planned December 15 opening of the $3.9 billion Las Vegas Cosmopolitan Resort Casino will be the only new casino expected to open for several years to come. This week’s Reader Poll asks the questions, would you plan a trip to Las Vegas for the grand opening, would you visit the Cosmopolitan on your visit to Las Vegas and do you think this will be a successful casino?   What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!  (see other opinions below)

Reader Poll Replies:

I will visit the new casino when it opens but I doubt i would stay there.  Roger W.  TX

That may be what vegas needs to get back on track, more competition might make it better for us players.   Donna  Detroit MI

If they offer grand opening specials i might spend a few nights in the new casino.  The problem with previous grand openings is the room rates were so high for the first month that I was not interested in being a first and paying twice what the room is worth.  DL  Miami FL

Yes my wife's birthday is Dec. 15th so when i found out the Cosmopolitan was opening that date i booked us a trip for the grand opening. We were at the opening of Red Rock and had a great time, now a opening on her birthday in vegas who could ask for anything more.  David Gerger   Kenosha,Wi

Absolutely I would go see this amazing new casino, it always amazes me that with each new casino there is always something better to come. How do they think of these new and adventurous casino's.  Geraldine Donnelly  San Bruno, California

I would not plan a trip for the opening as I already live in Vegas. I might visit the property, but there is nothing specific that would be motivating me to visit it. I don't think this is the right time to open a new venue as we are already not getting enough tourist dollars to support the existing properties. If this brings more tourists, great, otherwise it becomes a failure before it opens.  Kenneth Flickstein   Las Vegas, NV

I think the name is great. They should use the name in the biggest marketing ploy of all times, free cosmopolitans for all while gambling. This would bring in more tourists than loose slots! I will be the 1st in line!   Howard Kendall  Indianapolis

I am afraid this is poor timing and dont think it will do well and it will have to operate without me.  Gene Victor

Over the years I have attended many new casino openings, but this casino is hard to get to even though it is on the Strip.  I think they should of become part of city center rather than trying to build a free standing casino that is hard to find.  Rosemarie  H  St Louis MO

Sure, build more billion dollar places, this means they will hire the best marketing people to get their money back and hopefully that will help Las Vegas get back on its feet economicially.  Ward Smith
