Effective January 1, 2012, Nevada motorists will find a new state rule they must comply with, the ban on using your cell phone while driving. Nevada is the ninth state to initiate a statewide law banning cell phone use, and the thirty-fourth state to ban texting.  What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!  ( See other readers opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

I feel this is a good rule and should be strickly enforced.  Ron C.  Los Angeles

Some of us are good drivers and use a cell phone on long drives when traffic is not an issue, so i see nothing wrong with using the phone on highways under the right conditions.    Martha Smith  TX

As we approach each day in our busy lives most of us are multi-taskers. This may be done in the home or workplace without incident, however, accomplishing driving successfully while using a cell phone is a great distraction. You may succeed most of the time while traveling but as often said "it only takes one time"... Using your cell phone while driving could be a likely disaster or ultimately a loss of one or more lives. Drive safely. Gloria Dunn  Agawam, Massachusetts

all cell phone use while driving should be banned...hands-free is still distracting, but this is a step in the right direction.  Louise  Winooski, VT

I prefer to use my cell phone on long trips, not in the city, helps keep me awake.  Gene S.
