In early March 2011 we announced the closing of the famous Sahara Casino. May 16, 2011 is the final day of operation. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question . . . Do you think they should auction online the thousands of Las Vegas memorabilia contained within the nearly 60 years of operation or should it be sold with the buildings?  Why or why not?  What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!  (See other readers opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

The thought of this great icon of Las vegas being closed is hard for me to grasp.  I would love to be able to buy some souvenirs before they bulldoze the building down.   Glenn T.  Philadelphia PA

If it was a true auction and not some high priced reserves, yes i would be interested in having a piece of vegas history.  Donna Chicago IL

Auction items online so people might have a chance to purchase a piece of history if they wanted to, I know I would like to or at least have the opportunity to.  John Reichow  Ottawa Lake Mich

That is the beauty of LV, always something being closed and a new item being built in its place.  Out with the old.  I would like to have a small souvenir, hopefully the owners wont want to recover all their money on us souvenir buyers.   Anna Foster  IL

I would like to have a piece of memory from the Sahara, it was a great place for me and my family for three decades.  Justin Phoenix, AZ

For me, tear it down and build something new and shinny, im tired of being pressed upon how important old things are, what a joke.  Darrell.  Los Angeles
