Once again, this weekend the 3-day Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) rave is being held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. That means approximately 300,000+ attendees for the 3-day event. Even though Metro Police have beefed up the drug enforcement and even narcotic dogs being used as the rave patrons enter the event this brings us to this week’s Reader Poll question . . . Is this the type of convention / event Las Vegas needs to help rebuild the economy of the city? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you! (See other readers’ opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

Anything that brings that many people to vegas cannot be all bad.  The revenue from this event is sure to help local business and tax payers alike in this bad economy.  Jason T.  Las Vegas

I think it is a good idea to have massive events in Las Vegas, that is what Vegas is all about, bigger the better.  Mary  Tulsa Ok

This type of event is way to young for me, but it should be good for the city.  Dont think we need any more young people with drugs, but dont know how you can keep it out.  Gloria Saunders.

it's still afree country, last I remembered. If people want to participate, let them. Howard   Indianapolis, IN

In my opinion I don't believe that this is the type of convention / event that Las Vegas needs to help rebuild the economy of the city. I'm unsure if the event is ongoing for the entire weekend or if it is only for specified hours but it seems like the people interested in this event might only stay there for the 3 days. How would that help to build the economy? Las Vegas needs events etc. that will allow attendees free time to spend money at casinos and elsewhere not just at the event itself.  Elizabeth Novak  Niagara Falls, NY
