Question:

Assembly Bill 571, if it passes, the Senate would allow smoking in bars and taverns of Las Vegas who serve food if all patrons are 21 or older. Five years ago the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act restricted bars, taverns to serve food and allow smoking in the same area. In Nevada it is legal, even though highly less than popular to amend any voter approved laws after 3 years. If this passes the Nevada Senate, it could become law immediately. What is your opinion of Assembly Bill 571?  We want to hear from you! (See other readers opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

My preference would be to leave it alone.  If they are still in business years later, why change it.... health is nothing you can put a price on.  Donna H.  Phoenix AZ

Just hope it dosent pass as this is a step in the wrong direction. It is a lot better to eat in smoke free bars and restaurants.   Ron Blades. dn146tq  England

I assume everyone who wasn't in favor of smoky bars and taverns five years ago haven't changed their minds. But sometimes you have to give people (bar owners) what they want and let them discover for themselves what the voters know: they won't eat at a smoke-filled bar. So they'll get what they want and have to deal with the consequences for three years until the repeal can be repealed.   David N  Minneapolis

Just another step in watching local tavern and bar owners who spend money to get politicians to change the laws that the masses voted for and passed.  What a shame we live in a world of such greedy people.  David B  Houston TX
