Question:

This year there is a group of people who contacted IVLV said they wanted to put a stop to the traditional July 4 fireworks celebrations held throughout Las Vegas. We would like to know what your feel about the fourth of July and fireworks celebrations?  What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!  (See other readers’ opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

Most people enjoy fireworks and since in Las Vegas the shows are done with experts i have no idea why anyone would like to stop fireworks.  James Carson

I come to vegas each year several times and always include a july 4 event just to see fireworks.  I wish these do gooders would worry about something important rather than just killing fun things.  Marian Kranz  New York

I think that the 4th of July would not be the same without the fireworks display! Having said that, I also am concerned about the wildfires in the southwest and feel that if there is believed to be any danger of starting one, then it should be canceled for this year.  Luci Levesque  Augusta, Maine

well if they do not want the fireworks then lets do like they did in the 1800's break out the guns. they do that they will love beautiful fireworks.  Lori Mann  Crossett, AR

Fireworks is part of americana and i think it should always be preserved.   Jennifer L

My family and I like the Las Vegas fireworks displays and we would never miss it.  I hope no one is crazy enough to ban another family favorite entertainment.  Debbie Smith

This is a classic case of the "wants of a few" taking away the enjoyment of many. I am proud of our Country and fully support the celibration with firework displays in Las Vegas. I have seen them many times and they make me feel proud.  Brian D. Plano, TX

I think they need to be regulated better and keep the eliment of fire down to a minimum.  By selling to the mass public that scares me.  John Hansen Illinois
