Question:

It is official, SB 374, medical marijuana dispensaries throughout southern Nevada, a maximum total of 40 locations was signed into law this week by Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question . . . Even though this will bring in large sums of taxation income to the cities and state of Nevada, is it a good or bad idea and where should these dispensaries be located? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!  (See other readers’ opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

My thoughts on this is simple, why not.  As long as the consumer is not allowed to operate a vehicle or during their job that is fine with me.  Many people need that type of pain relief.  Carolyn Connors  NYC, NY

It works for me.  So many people once they hear the word marijuana they freak.  This product has a place and a use, unfortunately so many have abused it.  I think giving those who need the product a controlled place to purchase legally is a good thing.  Jeff Johnson  Dallas TX

Best thing to happen in LV! Now the people who Really need the marijuana will have legal access to it to ease their pain, and they won't have to deal with the slugs on the street selling it illegally! You go Las Vegas... hope the rest of the country follows suit!  Pat
Berzanski  Budd Lake, NJ

No this is a bad idea.  Now you have people that legally obtained a substance that can increase in odd behavior and mind slowing functioning.   Mary  Sarasota FL

As a resident of Washington State where Medical marijuana is legal it has been wonderful. There has been a few problems but they have been worked out over the year or so and it runs smoothly. The green cross is helpful to so many in need. Good idea for Nevada, should be located in high traffic areas and with the green cross, lots of security and Check Those IDs!  Elizabeth LaZella  Gold Bar, WA

I hate the smell of stale Marijuana on a person. If there so sick to need it than they are to sick to be in public venues.  Mark Sharp  Norman,ok

Keep it away from schools and church structures.  Diane S   Chicago IL

My preference is to not legalize pot, but if that is what the dim elected officials want, then keep the facility in an industrial area.  Tina Jeffrey
