June 27 is the date set to open the new Las Vegas Terminal 3 at McCarran International Airport. This $2.4 billion airport expansion is designed to bring more travelers from around the world to visit Las Vegas. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question, do you think this new terminal will help Las Vegas in this economy or is it going to just be another expensive project like the Las Vegas Monorail? (See other readers’ opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

I think it might work, but that is a lot of money in this economy and maybe the money could have been spent in better places.  Lori  Dallas TX

Hopefully they planned this expansion so that it does not cause traffic problems and becomes a asset not a confusion center.  Roger D

I think this is a good project and should be a big boost to helping las vegas survive in this bad economy.  Betty Lawson  FL

I think it will help the economy. The monorail is/was a good idea, but as to were the stations are in the casinos, you have to walk alot to get to them. With the airport expansion, travelers from other countries will be more likely to come here since there is more flights in and out of Vegas. Plus with the new expansion this also means more jobs
at the airport itself, so that will help. Hopefully will prove that Las Vegas is still the capital of entertainment and gaming.  Chris Koch  Ashland, Ohio

Terminal 3 is very important to Las Vegas and a game changer. It is very well designed to move large numbers of people fast, a little "plain Jane", but good design. It tapes the only market Vegas can expand into and they will be people with money. It may add 10-15 or maybe 20% to the bottom line of Las Vegas.(read that as jobs). Good work Las Vegas,
this is vision and tax money at work.  Steve LIng  Sacramento

I think it will be wonderful. Is it going to be connected by a tram like Terminal 2? It will be fun to get lost in the big terminal again.  Alan Curtis  Roseville Minnesota

i think anything that is new is going to be good and draw atttraction.  Vegas is good at re inventing itself and maybe a new airport terminal might the thing that gets the economy back on track.  Wayne P.  TX

Great asset plus if only the Monorail could link to the airport, it would even better. Carolyn   Jacobs

I truly think the new terminal will be a good help to Las Vegas, people need to fly and making it easier to get through an airport is essential for travelers. The monorail is okay but people like to walk from place to place, you see much more than riding the monorail.
Janet Baumann  Bolingbrook, IL
