Question:

Over the Fourth of July weekend IVLV attended an interesting luncheon where several businessmen wanted our readers’ opinion on a very unique topic. This week’s Reader Poll question is . . . Since 1851 different cities have hosted a world fair. If a World Fair (Expo) could be secured for Las Vegas, would that be something of interest and would you attend? (This would be a huge undertaking and costing billions of dollars and the next available World Fair open date is 2017 or later.)  What is your opinion?  We want to hear from you!  (See other readers opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

I would attend in a heart beat.  A worlds fair in vegas would be the best attraction ever.  Darrell H.  Miami FL

o!please no !vegas is a stand alone destination. the whole world knows what vegas is about.the world`s fair is for cities that want to get noticed.i would not go any where near vegas if they played host.prices for hotels and stuff would sky rocket.  jim shogren   surrey/bc canada

Sounds intriging, but not sure where they would put it and how vegas could handle the extra people coming to a world class event.  Stephanie Smith  NYC, NY

i think this would be great for vegas.  Lonnie  Houston TX

So long as they dont charge an arm and a leg for tickets, it seems to have merit.  Robert Sawyer

Not sure where it would be placed, but I think there could be other projects that would cost less money and attract more people without disrupting the city entirely.   Alice Kansas City.

There is no reason to me for Las Vegas to try and compete for a worlds fair.  usuually those are cities that have very little going for them and they need to build an attraction.  Las vegas is an attraction that changes almost daily without the help of a world fair.  Barney Richardson
