Question:

Announced today, January 15, the MGM Grand properties, all 11 casinos within Las Vegas, will begin to charge for parking at their casinos starting the second quarter of this year. The estimated fee is going to be $10 for one day parking. Many other casinos are extremely watchful of this bold parking rule change. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question, what is your opinion of removing the historic free parking at the MGM Grand Casino properties? We want to hear from you. What is your opinion? (See other Readers’ opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

When they start charging I start looking for a new casino to gamble. They suck all the money out of us already, now they need another $10 to pay for their empty casino. William C. Phoenix, AZ

I'm not about to pay for public parking. Vegas is beginning to turn into new york city and the costs are just prohibitive to have fun. Lauren Davis Oklahoma

Big mistake. This could end my three trips a year to Vegas. Will this effect Valet parking? Don Bartlett Indianapolis, Indiana

t's a great way for MGM to increase business at their competitor's casinos. Coo-dos to the MGM brain-trust. William Lockhart Waterford NY

Can't the greed pots be satisfied with room rates/gambling income/resort fees? this stuff takes the fun out of going to vegas! carrol tapper hanover, MD

I will not visit any of their properties on my week long trip planned 1-20 thru 1-27-16. Nor will I visit any of their other properties outside Vegas. I can vote by spending my $$'s elsewhere. Jim CReighotn Atlanta/Ga

No way am I paying for parking. You loose enough money gambling at these casinos and now they want to rip us off more? Debbie Tewes orland park il

Forget renting a car in the future unless a one day rental where we will be out and about and not parking at MGM properties. Can't believe this will help their bottom line. I see only negative vibes. Dolores Randmark Mount Prospect

It's a joke and not a funny one. The hotel/casinos already charge resort fees for things most people don't use. This will have a negative affect on locals as well. If you park for an hour or 2 to have dinner you still pay $10? What about handicapped people? Will there be a discount for them? I don't like it at all. Scott Schneider Henderson, Nevada

I will no longer go to MGM props. Mark Sharp Norman, ok

I will have little to no interest in going to one of their casinos if they are that hard up to start charging for free parking. I am sure I will find other casinos not charging me to park my car. David O. Chino, CA
