Rumor has it Sheldon Adelson, owner of Venetian and Palazzo Casinos in Vegas and several others around the world, is in the market to buy an NBA team to bring to Las Vegas. Ironically, MGM Grand is building a stadium on the property of the New York New York Casino and they do not have a team secured either. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question . . . do you think either entity will buy a professional team and bring them to Las Vegas? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you.We want to hear from you (See other Readers’ opinions below.)

If either of them buys a team i have no idea how they are going to sell tickets to fill either building. James Larson NV

I think it is good for a NBA team to come to Vegas, but at what costs. Are tickets going to be out of sight? That is really what the final verdict about whether or not people will attend and if it is going to be a success or failure. Louis Dawson

Hopefully it will be Adelson who buys a team. Maybe he will be so busy with his casinos oversees so he will not jack the prices through the roof for us small guys. Donald Houston TX

I really dont think vegas is ready for a pro team. Never really had a major league team and the minor league teams they had never sold out. Darrell J. Oregon

For an NBA team to be successful, it must draw a steady fan base. I'm not sure if Las Vegas is the city for this. UNLV is the team locals follow. Local numbers would need to be huge and steady as tourist attendees would only attend games as a novelty or unless their "home team" was on the road and happened to be playing in in Las Vegas at the time of their visit. New York metro area has a base of over 10 million people and the Knicks still struggle to draw when they arent winning. Jeffrey Stephens Massapequa Park, NY

Im not a basketball fan, so it doesnt really matter to me. Irene Jacobs

Why is it so important to have a professional team in vegas, we have casinos and fine dinning and shows, what other city has all that to offer. Robert J. Las Vegas. NV
