For decades Las Vegas has been known as the live entertainment capital of the world. Las Vegas currently has shows starting early in the afternoon and continues until almost midnight, unlike the years gone by were filled with entertainment from noon till dawn. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question . . . Do you think Las Vegas needs live entertainment performing around the clock 24/7/365 or at least until early morning hours?  What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!  (See other readers’ opinions below.)

I like the idea of late night shows, not sure about 24 hours a day.  Doris J  San Antonio, TX

Definitely! The matinee/earlier shows are a Must for local venues to entertain those families who insist on bringing their kids to Vegas. The earlier shows mainly consist of magic, animal and comedy acts. Ruben Riesgo   Chester

No while it is true that many tourists come for the shows most are there for gambling. 24/7 shows would decrease the casinos bottom line when the shows were 1/2 empty and that would be unacceptable  Jerry Burr   Vero Beach, FL.

If LV fancies itself as a 24/7 destination, it has to have live entertainment round the clock. You can get a drink or club round the clock in many cities, so LV has to set itself apart with live entertainment.  Kip Abelson   Salem, MA

I think live entertainment should be offered 24/7/365 because you have so many people coming from all parts of the world and different time zones. This way everyone can enjoy all that Las Vegas has to offer without feeling left out that they couldn't attend because the hours didn't fit into their schedule!  Norma Glennie   Saline, MI

It's nice to have the casinos open 24/7, but really live entertainment is not needed past 2 or 3 a.m. I have walked down the strip at that time of night and it is desolate. As are the casinos inside. I remember when Sam's Town had 24/7 entertainment in one of their clubs. It was nice but not needed. These days people really don't care that much about live entertainment in my opinion. But it's nice to know it's still there. Kelly Blair  Shallowater

I suppose if the crowds would support it. I say try and and you'll know within a few months whether it works or not!   Joni Little   morton, IL

I believe they should definitely extend hours on shows. The main reason is because there is just not enough time in a day to do all the things I want to do when I am in Vegas. There is many beautiful places to see during the day that we need more night time hours to get everything in!   Tammy Stephens  Eau Claire, WI

I like 1PM to Midnight as the Entertainers need their rest to properly entertain the public who also need their rest. After all, gaming is the name of the game in Las Vegas as well as entertainment.  Fred Parker   British Columbia  Canada
