Question:

The Cromwell, former location of Bill’s Casino / Barbary Coast Casino, is planning their opening which is only a few weeks away, on Memorial Day Weekend. (Guests can check in as early at May 21) Over the past decades when new casinos opened in Las Vegas, the new casino would attract millions of new visitors in the following months. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question . . . The Cromwell with the Drai’s rooftop pool / club is the first new casino to open in Las Vegas for years. Do you think this will enhance Las Vegas and generate more visitors or not? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you. (See other readers’ opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

Any new attraction should bring millions of more people to Las Vegas, we are the entertainment capital of the world. Janice J. Las Vegas NV

In this economy I am not sure it will bring in millions, but it should help attract more visitors to some degree. David Kim, CA

It is a casino that i will visit and i have moved my plans up three months so i can attend the grand opening. Yes, it attracted me. Rachel D. Los Angeles, CA

Yes, I think it will enhance Las Vegas and generate more visitors, especially in the early stages of operations as both the curious and the repeat customer will have a new experience to visit. Dennis McGranaghan Omaha, NE

If it was a mega resort it might bring in millions, but this is a small casino and i dont think it will have that kind of impact on Las Vegas. Lisa W. Dallas TX

Knowing how small this venue is I would doubt that it will attract millions of visitors as a destination. I like others will stop and check it out on our vacation as we do with all new establishments. Howard Indianapolis IN

anyhing new in vegas is a sure hit. I think it sounds exciting and can't wait till it opens. Love the roof top options and think it is a super location. I think it will bring the fun and interesting kind of people to this location. Cheryl Cooper Dayton Ohio

No I do not think it will generate more visitors because of all the increased resort fees and how expensive food and gas are and how airfare has increased. Plus no one is giving very many comps and forget about loose slots that is a thing of the past. I would not take a trip to Vegas for the opening of this hotel. Janet Baumann Romeoville, IL

Sure, I for one am curious about any new Las Vegas Venture and plan to check it out. Lori Groszowski Milan/MI
