As mentioned in this week Insider Viewpoint of Las Vegas newsletter, once again a spark of hope might exist for the high speed rail from California to Las Vegas. This spark is driven by the NFL team, The Raiders, coming to Las Vegas. This week Reader Poll asks do you think Las Vegas will ever have a high speed rail connecting to the Los Angeles area? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you. (See other Readers’ opinions below.)

las vegas once again hears the rumors of a high speed rail connecting las vega to california

I live in LA and a high speed rail would be great, but i have heard this story for 10+ years without any results. Donna Ontario, CA

Not likely. It would cost more than 10 billion dollars and take many years to build. And then you would have the problem of exactly where it would start and stop. To many egos in the way to make this a reality. John B. North Las Vegas, NV

A high speed railway between LA and LVA will increase revenues for casinos and restaurants and will provide an incentive for Californians to travel to LVA. I travel frequently to LVA and would take advantage of the railway to travel to CA for a day JoAnn Cathcart North Attleboro

Sounds like a very expensive idea that may never come to reality. It would be nice, but i think the cost is going to be out of control. Ron Denver CO

I think some sort of high speed connection from Los Angeles to Las Vegas is inevitable. The biggest challenge will be the investment necessary to make it economically viable. There are opportunities for ancillary services such as car rental or shuttles from terminals to hotels which make it prudent for an investor to look at all of the opportunities for revenue in developing a system. Rich K Zion, IL

Never happen. Lived in vegas for 10 years and every year this topic comes up and nothing is ever accomplished. Linda T. Vegas, NV

No, I really do see a high speed rail system from L.A. to L.V.. I honestly think it is about as likely as one coming from Detroit (The Lions), or Tampa (The Bucs) to Las Vegas. It isn't needed. Las Vegas will draw people to the games even if they have to walk through the desert to get to the games - given everything else already in Las Vegas. Larry Strehl Tampa

The high speed rail system is an excellent program that will benefit both cities. There is as much interest for Vegas residents to travel to LA. It would be a profitable venture for all. ken arasim Henderson, NV

If you get this high speed rail. You will have so many people in las vegas that all of us from the east wont want to come Stephen Goodwin Sedalia
