March 7 is the new date set to hear the revised disclosure statement in court regarding the economically massive bleeding of the Las Vegas Monorail. Originally built in 1994 servicing MGM Grand to Bally’s Casino, the year 2011 was the worse economic return for the Monorail. With more than $650 million in bonds out, the estimated value of the monorail today is less than $10 million. Oddly enough, the 3.9 miles of monorail never connected to the airport which would be the only way to save this failing asset. Whether the ailing Chapter 11 company will climb out of the woes of money problems is anyone’s guess at this time.

A delay has hit the proposed Splash Canyon Waterpark that was to be located on Fort Apache near Warm Springs Road. Original expected to open in 2012, it has now been pushed back to at least mid to late 2013. More than $10 million has been pledged and/or spent on this project but the remaining $20+ million needed to complete this project is not secured at this time.
