Year 2001 Good Experiences
Had a great time seeing Wayne Newton at the Stardust in late
October. The man knows how to put on a show. I loved the band. I was
leery of going at first but the show was fantastic. If you want a true
Vegas experience I would definitely check out Wayne's show Bill
from Massachusetts
We recently got married at the little
white chapel, I cannot thank them enough from the chauffeur driver to the
photographer it was fantastic. Followed by a great hotel, the Circus
Circus, thanks for making it a good One!! H&P

My husband and I visited Las
Vegas from the UK early September and we stayed at Circus Circus Hotel. We
had a wonderful time, the rooms were excellent and very clean, the
restaurants were first class and the buffet was extremely good value, the
quality of the food was superb and plenty of choice. We visited all the
hotels on the Strip and many of the restaurants including Planet
Hollywood, Hard rock Cafe, Harley Davidson Cafe and the Top of the World
Restaurant at the Stratosphere and could not fault food, service and
welcome at any of them. We were due to fly home on the 11th September but
we were unable to due to the attacks on America and we would like to
express our thanks to the Circus Circus Hotel who let us stay in our room
for five more days at a reduced rate and did everything they could to help
us until we could leave. We would definitely come back to Las Vegas again
as it is such a Wonderful city and we would recommend the Circus Circus to
anybody. Our thoughts are with the People of America at this difficult
time. Lynda and Neil United Kingdom
My husband and I visited Vegas Aug.19-22 and it was too short of a
trip...we couldn't get everything in we had wanted to do. We stayed at the
Mirage and it was very nice...next trip back we plan to try the Bellagio
or the Venetian. Slots at the Mirage were tight... Caesars was good as
well as a few of the smaller casino's on the strip. The only negative
besides the slot payout at the Mirage was the number of kids that passed
thru the casino...to get to their rooms, the attractions etc. We didn't
notice as many kids in other casino's as what we did at the Mirage.
We won't rule out staying at the Mirage
again...Can't wait for our next trip! Kim of

Hi there from United Arab Emirates. I met my brother in Vegas on
23rd July 2001- idiot forgot to book me in to the Flamingo. Called some
Hotels from the airport and ended up with 'Gold Coast' at a very
reasonable price compared to the other quotes. Compared my room with my
brother's - mine was much bigger, cleaner and all round much better value.
Stayed there three nights. They had a free shuttle bus which was great - a
$ gratuity was well earned by the drivers. The Stratosphere is a must but
beware of the 'price of the day' Maine Lobster. PLEASE get those porn
leaflet people off the streets - not nice. Also, I think you shouldn't
encourage children by turning the slots into video games. Visited all the
Hotels - what a fantastic place - I will return for sure!!!.......Maggi
Just got back from MGM Grand on 8/01. Wonderful rooms, service and
atmosphere. Incredible experience given the tremendous volume of people
there. Get rooms on North side overlooking the strip for great view. Lion
exhibit is a must see. Slots were paying-out like a coke machine.
Best buffet at Mandalay Bay. The ultimate in pastries at Paris - LeNotre.
Don't miss the Fountain show at Bellagio, and Madame Tousads Celeb. wax
museum at the Venitian. Follies at the Trop - great classic show, take the
kids. Also at the Tropicana, Follies PR Girls in casino lobby - best photo
opportunity. Girls were extremely friendly and encouraged a photo session
that was an experience to remember. Jeff -

My husband and I
recently spend a week in Las Vegas. Thanks to your Web site, we saved
money on virtually every aspect of our vacation - tours, food, exhibitions
and more. Your articles and advice on restaurants and buffets were
priceless! Thank you very much!! Amy
Neil
We recently visited Las Vegas (6/15-6/20) we had
a great time! We stayed at the Treasure Island and loved it. The Terrace
Cafe breakfast there is fantastic! The service was very fast. There were 5
people in our group and we all hit small jackpots for $100 or so at
Treasure Island. My cousin hit a $5000.00 jackpot there and we are not
even big gamblers. The slots were very good to us. Treasure Island is in a
pretty good spot on the strip, but there is still a lot of walking to do
to get anywhere. We walked all the way down to the NYNY, and went on the
roller coaster. That was so much fun, we did it at night and the view was
beautiful! We never made it down to the stratosphere, or Circus Circus to
see their rides, they are just too far away. We were disappointed that the
rides at the MGM Grand were closed. We went to downtown one day and we
were very disappointed. That was not what we came to Vegas for. It was
nice because all the casinos were close together, but it just wasn't as
nice as the strip. The new Aladdin is nice! We will probably stay
there for our next trip. The Venetian is GORGEOUS!!! ( but very
expensive!!) We had a great trip and we can't wait to go back. Viva Las
Vegas! Christie Flores, Napa, CA.
We made our first trip to Vegas in early
May. Stayed downtown at the Lady Luck. We had the time of our lives. The
room was fine. The staff was friendly and helpful and the slots were
loose. The restaurant there left something to be desired but it was a
short hop to Freemont Street Hotel and Casino. No lines, good buffet, no
one rushing you out the door after you ate. Loved the 'downtown' area as
it was no traffic, everything was a brief walk away and it was not
crowded. Went to the 'strip' one afternoon and couldn't wait to get back
downtown. I think that Vegas has whatever you are looking for and we
didn't want all the glitz and crowds, nor did we expect to win a heap of
money. Just a nice place to vacation and gamble within our means at our
own pace. Can't wait to go back. Cookiewar
Thanks a million for providing such a
great service, including the car rental and hotel reservation pages.
We saved a bundle. It was so easy, we will always use your company
for information and reservations. Your web site is without a doubt
the best Las Vegas information. James

I have just read many of the "bad experiences" and I
sympathize with those people. My Vegas vacations have been great. The
friend who took me there the first time stays at the Gold Spike. Every one
wrinkles their noses about it but I love it! Why pay a lot of money when
all you do in your room is sleep & shower? The rooms are great. I've
stayed at Harrah's and Imperial Palace and the Gold Spike's rooms are just
as nice, and seemed a bit bigger! Lot's of hot water, good firm mattress,
clean linens, and good A/C. They don't give you cute little bottles of
shampoo etc with their labels and the don't have a pool. The casino
is a tad dingy, the penny slots area is always crowded and smoky, but had
plenty of fresh drinks. What impressed me the most was Robert, at the
front desk. He remembers me every year. I just called to confirm my
reservation and when he looked up my last name and saw my first name he
said," Hey Vanessa, How are ya? This is Robert, glad to see your
coming again." WHERE ELSE can you get that? Most people don't care
who you are, he remembers people. He even told me how hot it's been and
where he went for his vacation, chatted like we were old buddies! The
little restaurant is Hmmmm, I can't think of an appropriate word.
Unique, unusual, weird, but the food is wonderful!!! Everything comes on
foam plates, with plastic utensils, but who cares? The trick is you need
to order it all at once. My friend and I get a roast beef plate, this is
real roast beef. It's lean and tasty and tender! Mashed potatoes, ample
gravy, a vegetable and roll, our beverage and pie or cheesecake all for
$4.11!! You can't beat it. The sandwiches are more meat than
bread and really good. I had stuffed cabbage rolls on the daily special
one time that were as good as mine! You just have to pretend you're
somewhere else if your sensitive. Every staff person I have come in
contact with was polite and courteous, I love this place and have no
desire to sleep anywhere else while I'm in town! Vanessa

Right after we arrived in Las Vegas,
& checked into the MIRAGE, my husband had a cardiac crisis. I am an RN
& called the main desk immediately, declaring a medical emergency.
Within minutes, help was on the scene! He was transported to the local
heart center, where not only was he treated, but the Mirage management
staff made sure that I was not left to feel alone during this situation.
The kindness & compassion of the staff of the Mirage will always
remain in my heart, & that is why my husband & I will always
return to the MIRAGE once a year when we return to LV. Maryann

We visited Harrah’s for 5 days in April and we were very happy
with the room and service. Hotel is just the right size, not over-whelming
like the others. The buffet was great and the servers in the casino were
quick and courteous. The location was perfect, across from the Mirage and
within walking distance to all other casinos. We would definitely stay
there again. They have a great outside bar with live performances in the
afternoon and evening. Just make sure to take advantage of their free bus
shuttles to various hotels and the strip. Good Luck! McM,
Long Island, N.Y.
Had another super Vegas Vacation in
April - our 6th Visit. Wanted to pass along info on a couple good shows.
We have always stayed at the Flamingo - clean - modern - great location
and outstanding tropical pool area. Their Headliner Show is Lasting
Impressions with Bill Acosta, "The Man of 1001 Voices" - his
performance brings on a standing ovation. The show also includes a topless
revue with high-quality show girls. The performance is sure to please the
eye and the ear. The Flamingo also has an afternoon matinee called Bottoms
Up that has a vaudeville flavor to it. A nice break for the middle of the
afternoon. Guaranteed to bring a smile or two to your face! Angie

We recently went to Vegas, our first time. We like it so much we are
planning to move there next year. We stayed at the Stardust. The people at
the Riviera were so nice and helpful. The only problem was they did not
have a room for us. Thank you Randy &
Mona Oklahoma
Just returned home from a week in Vegas,
had a great vacation. We stayed at the Tropicana and I can't say enough
good things about the hotel. The pool area is very easy to access and food
was excellent. The Fremont Street Experience was fantastic, the buffet at
Treasure Island was the best followed closely by the breakfast buffet at
Excalibur. One of the best vacations ever!!!!!!!!
Steinie
My husband and I visited Vegas for 2 weeks in March/April. We had a
fantastic time, staying at Excalibur. Especially worth a mention in terms
of entertainment is the band "Wild Life" who play at various
hotels. We saw them in Mandalay Bay-Coral Reef Lounge and they were quite
exceptional! To anyone visiting and looking for a 1st rate night out, do
not miss this band!!! Ann & John, Scotland
This last trip to Vegas was over the
Easter week. Our third trip here this year. We mix a little business with
a lot of pleasure. We took some time this trip to see the afternoon shows.
First show was The Mac King comedy show at Harrah's, excellent. This
is a must see show. Next show was Viva Las Vegas, If you have never seen a
stage show, you will enjoy this sort of a vaude ville style show.
The Follies at the Tropicana was another excellent show. Those girls were
beautiful and the entertainers were spectacular. Last but not least.
Rick Thomas, he was great. It certainly was magic. Gambling was great all
week too. But that's another time. Thanks for giving me the space. Jack
I just spent 5 days in
Vegas with my wife and my 5 yr old daughter. We
stayed at circus circus and had a wonderful time. we were treated very
nice and the blackjack at night time was very giving. The Adventure Dome
was fun for the whole family and the FREE circus was small but took up
some time. Only bad part was circus circus buffet, had better food in my
pets food dish. if u have kids stay out of the Bellagio, they were rude
and pushy!!! They wouldn't even let me buy a coke for my daughter!!! Had
the best food at the RIO. Rio buffet was cheap, filling and quick with
excellent service. Seafood buffet at Rio was not as good, but twice as
much. This was our first trip to Vegas but will not be our last!! Luv that
blackjack!!!!!! mhaskel1
My husband and I just returned from a week long visit to Las Vegas.
We stayed at Harrah's. The room was wonderful, quite large, and the staff
was very friendly. Check in was smooth and we arrived near midnight. The
buffet at Harrah's was amazing, the Mac King comedy show was awesome.
There is also an Improv show there and numerous different kinds of
restaurants right there. It's centrally located on the strip which is
really handy for sight-seeing. They also have a 4 cup coffee maker in room
which was sure nice in the mornings! The only down side we saw at Harrah's
was that we never won one cent from their slots any time we played them,
which I have to admit wasn't often because of that, but like I said there
are lots more that are within a few minutes walk. All in all it was a
wonderful trip and I don't think we'd ever stay anywhere else now when we
go back. H. H. British Columbia
My family and I recently returned
from Vegas and had a GREAT vacation. We went over Spring vacation and my
children 12,10 & 9 enjoyed every minute (even the hustle through the
casinos because they were not "21") We had a very nice stay at
the Tropicana. Our plane was delayed and we were late, our reserved room
was not available, but Tropicana gave us an upgraded room which was very
clean , affordable & roomy. We enjoyed 2 very entertaining shows at
Tropicana. Rick Thomas & Folies Bergere. Both shows I highly
recommend. Enjoyed the strip and the free attractions along the
route. My only complaint would be not enough places to buy
non-alcoholic beverages. Outside of Vegas we visited Hoover Dam , Lake
Mead (90-minute Paddlewheel ride !!!!!) and Red Rock Canyon. Thank you
very much for the Viva Las Vegas show tickets, the show was enjoyed by
all. The comedians are very funny. The view at the top of the Stratosphere
is worth the extra $6. Vegas thanks for a great time, can't wait for
another chance to visit !! Dave

Think Las Vegas casinos
are trying to outdo each other and they should focus on more winnings for
the clientele, so they will come/go back to Vegas. each casino is spending
$s like crazy to outdo the last one built and seems as though no concern
for the people who come to Vegas to have fun---not to look at all the
fancies; of course they may be pretty, etc. but hey, you could spend $s on
new machines and some more payoffs......Margaret

We recently had our first trip to Las Vegas. We stayed at Harrah's
which accommodated us very nicely. I really liked the strip EXCEPT for the
fact that strings of Mexicans were handing out pornographic material. Karen and Al Luglio

Just returned from our trip to Vegas. I was really impressed by the
glitz of it all. We live fairly close to Atlantic City, NJ casinos and
they are not even close to comparison. I found most places to be clean,
especially the restrooms. The food at the buffets were ok, nothing to brag
about, but filling to say the least. We stayed at the "Luxor" It
was rather warm/stuffy in the casino as well as in the rooms. The general
layout was not at all convenient. On the flipside, the room-service was
excellent!...We explored the casino next door, "Excalibur" and
found that much more to our liking. COOLER for one thing! Also, much more
accessible to casinos, shops etc. We rented a convertible during our stay
which proved to be a smart choice. It was so much fun to drive around with
the top down taking it all in. Visited the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Nice
trips. All in all, we had a nice time. Definitely would go back but would
stay at a different hotel. Cathi Nuttall Cape

We visited Las Vegas over super bowl week and i would like to
comment on the excellent experience we had at the Hard Rock Hotel. Mr
Lucky's is the best coffee shop ive ever been in. The atmosphere was like
none I've experienced in Vegas. But the highlight of the weekend was Babys
nightclub. It has a very swank atmosphere. Also the security was the best
I've ever seen in a nightclub. I saw a group of girls in front of me not
allowed in the club because they had fake ids. And I also saw a man
escorted out for drug use. In many clubs these things would be
overlooked. Sandra Jannson
Last month my family and I went to Vegas and had one of the best
times ever. We followed your recommendations and found a new Las
Vegas we had never seen before. The places we visited were
outstanding, especially La Scala restaurant. The food was great,
priced conservatively and their web site was so easy to use we had no
trouble finding their location. Thanks for telling us about places
like La Scala that are not on the Las Vegas Strip but well worth the one
mile drive. The friends we visited in Las Vegas had never been to La Scala
and they were so impressed also that I am sure it will be their new
favorite restaurant. Keep up the great work and providing us with
the best Las Vegas information. Gloria &
Jim, Chicago
My family and I just returned from Las Vegas and had a wonderful
time. I really enjoy your web site and newsletter. This trip I
had the pleasure of visiting Victorian Accents. This company has
some of the greatest antique and reproductions I have ever seen and really
priced right. It had to be priced right, my husband even though he
was losing at the tables bought me something. I highly recommend Victorian Accents
as a place to shop and a place to look at some really beautiful
items. Karen, NY
Here's a little tip for some Vegas
visitors, if they don't already know about the shuttles. The Rio has a
free shuttle service to and from the strip. You can catch it at Harrahs or
at the Rio Shuttle Location next to the new Aladdin. Sam's Town has
a shuttle service that you can also catch at Harrahs. This one we have
found to be great as we take the Sam's Town Strip Shuttle to Sam's, gamble
awhile, (we always win something there) and then get the Down Town Shuttle
from Sams to the Fremont. Of course, we then reverse it to get back to the
strip. We took cabs a couple of times and though it is much faster, it is
much more dangerous. I find all cab drivers drive extremely fast and it
scares me to death. We also use the Strip Trolley quite a bit ($1.50) per
ride per person. No one seems to talk about the trolley. Is it a secret?
We also had good luck with the slots at Harrahs and the Venetian. Brought
home about $3200 more than we left with. Ya can't beat that! Pam
Jones
I returned from Las Vegas a few weeks ago. I always stay at the
Imperial Palace. The staff are courteous, friendly and helpful. I enjoy
the old-time atmosphere. It is located in the perfect place of mid-strip.
The auto collection and the " Legends in Concert" show are
recommended items of very worthwhile interest. I have made many friends
there and have treated as family. I always manage to win a jackpot there.
Knock on wood !!!! I will be returning there this weekend. The
Imperial Palace will as long as I go to Las Vegas, have me as a guest. Chuck
from Arizona
Thank you so much for all your information, you have the Greatest
Web Site. I am so glad I found it. Marjorie Dimaggio
Recently went during
Presidents week vacation. I should have paid attention to your site
earlier. Missed the tickets for O in waiting line by two couples....Next
time with your help I will better plan. Gaming advice was good.
Blackjack was good to me. I feel the best bargain is the Paris, Paris
buffet at 4:45 - 5:00 no lines. The Bellagio is the greatest dinner
buffet. We used the local bus and the slow trams, but saved on Taxi
Fares. Thanks Michael

I just returned from Las Vegas and had a terrific time. Your
newsletter was very informative. Thanks, Bob Davis.
I also just recently booked a car reservation
using a site you referred me to. It was very convenient and efficient. I
thank you for that. Sincerely a happy subscriber, -Monica

I thought I would write and thank you. I live in the UK and I am
planning to visit Vegas in June this year. Thanks to the info in your
newsletter I have managed to get a hotel reservation in the Luxor for 1/2
the price I would have paid when booking in the UK. I shall definitely
recommend my friends to sign up so they to can take advantage of the great
deals and information your newsletter informs people about! Thanks
again. Jane Tyler
My husband and I have been to Las Vegas twice in the last year. Both
times we have stayed at Caesar's Palace and had a wonderful time. Contrary
to what we had often read, the staff at Caesar's were always friendly and
helpful. Both times we were upgraded to a suite. On the second visit we
got all of the way to our room just to discover it had not been cleaned
and wasn't ready. The woman at the front desk was very apologetic and
quickly moved us to another room. The next day we returned from touring to
find a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries
in a white chocolate bowl. There are some places who still show nice
customer service. --McIntosh
Recent visit 1-25-01. Stayed at Imperial
Palace, nice service and clean room. Older hotel but excellent location.
Great comps that we used for breakfast meals. Nickel machines paid off
well Also visited Aladdin, wonderful casino service and great casino
buffet. Fitzgeralds nickels paid off really well especially up by the
entrance. Only, one bad thing, pick pockets were bad on the bus. Vondale
Salem
I recently visited Mandalay Bay on a business trip, and the hotel
was absolutely wonderful. However, the slot machines were among the
tightest that I have ever played. What a waste? I must have lost $1,00o
without getting a single win over $40.00. Strip casinos need to raise
their slot payouts. Otherwise, I will not bother to travel to Vegas and go
play at Foxwoods, which is only an hour drive from home. Jan
Martell Providence, RI
Been to Vegas 3 times,---we love it all, we stayed at three
different casinos' but we liked the flamingo the best. primarily because
of location. All casinos were great. The side trips were a
plus and reasonable. will go anytime, had good and bad luck. thanks.
J.S.
Everything about
Bally's...The temperature was fine, the rooms were nice, the workers were
helpful and kind. All in all I loved Las Vegas and hope to return
soon. Trancender
My friend and I went to Vegas in July
2000 for the first time. We stayed for 4 days at the Luxor and we loved
it. The rooms were big and clean and the hotel was beautiful. We booked a
package deal and it was so reasonable. I would highly recommend the Luxor
if you want a really great hotel at a reasonable price. My husband and I
are going back this July 2001 and we can't wait. There is so much to see
and do!!! Stay as long as you can. Webecool4
I was in Las Vegas in September 2000. My friends and I had a
ball. Stayed at the Tropicana. Very friendly and very clean. If you
never see another show, you must see Cirque de Solei - O at the Bellagio.
It was worth every penny. We can't say enough about it. Thank you, too,
for the free tickets to Viva Las Vegas. The show was great. Wayne Newton's
show also was wonderful. Your website is the greatest. Char

My wife and I have went to Las Vegas for the past 2 years now and
yes we have had a few problems here and there overall the trips have been
excellent. If I could make a suggestion to all of you planning your trip
now, take the tour of the Colorado river, you start at the Hoover Dam and
go down the river for the rest of the afternoon stopping along the way at
a few beaches for lunch and a break. The trip is well worth it, just for
the time out of a casino, so you'll have that much more time to spend with
your money!! ha ha have fun! and watch out for rattlesnakes (there all
stuffed at the gift shop) Scott Indiana
We stayed at Stratosphere
over New Years. For the price we paid I really have no complaints. Rooms
were clean and the personnel were friendly and helpful when asked. My only
heartache is the new owners took down the marble wall at the bottom of the
tower that listed everyone who were charter members of the Stratosphere
Club and paid good money to be listed there. It is bad enough they took
our free stays we were promised by Bob Stupek. Chip
