Question in black type - Answer from our Readers in blue type
#1. It
seems the trend in Las Vegas is for casinos to buy other casinos. For
example Station Casinos recently bought Fiesta and The Reserve. Harrah's
has purchased Rio. MGM Grand purchased the Wynn properties and so on. This
week’s poll asks . . . As a visitor or resident to Las Vegas, would you
prefer the city consist of several independent smaller casinos or a few
conglomerates? Why?
* I personally
think competition is better for the local gambler. I now have no place but
Station Casinos in my neighborhood, But will travel to other areas. I like
going to other casinos just for variety. Now there will be Santa Fe
Station-Texas Station and Fiesta. I also feel that Station was not fair to
the employees of the Santa Fe. I am not pro union either. I just
feel the people they re-hired were just tokens and not the real reason
they hired them. There were many qualified people at the Santa Fe that
were not offered jobs. I also feel the union hurt the former employees of
the Santa Fe there is no competition now and they don't have to offer us
anything to visit their casinos. I am a local of 7 years and am very
upset. Marjorie L. Barton N. Las Vegas Nevada
* Gambling in a
smaller casino is more fun, you do not get lost in the ocean of
players. It seems much friendlier and more personal. John, WV
* Both large or
small casinos are fine with me. Seems I have won or lost in
both. I go back and forth between the casinos to get exactly what I
what from each casino. Regardless of how big or small, I still like
going to different buildings, trying new restaurants and playing various
machines and of course trying my luck at different tables. George

* Several
independent smaller casinos. Edward Piantoni
* I like the
smaller, local, casinos rather than going into a giant building that makes
you walk a mile to your room. Seems that all these casinos are just
getting way to big. Ann, SC
* Living in a
small town, I really enjoy the massive buildings and everything they have
to offer. I like the bigger casinos. Sonya, CA
