Question in black type - Answer from our Readers in blue type
#1. What is your most interesting
experience in a cab in Las Vegas? Good or Bad and why?
* My family and I
were returning home from an evening out at a hotel downtown, we got into a
cab, and the cabbie crossed an intersection down the street where a
suspected armed robber was running through. The cabbie proceeded to chase
the robber, with no consideration to the fact that there was a baby and a
small child in the cab! It was as if the driver was completely unaware of
the fact that he had a "fare" in his cab! My husband and I were
horrified! Thank goodness that the children were too tired to be scared!
We were finally driven home, and were safe. Needless to say, that cabbie
got no tip whatsoever! Caryn Earnhart
* Our 8th trip to
Vegas in 2 yrs. is coming up in 20days and we haven't used a cab since the
first trip. we love the freedom of having a rental car. but, the first
trip, we left the airport in a cab. the cabbie was from New Jersey. We
told him it was our first trip, he smiled and said, let me show you some
sights. with that, he turned off the meter, and took us down the strip and
gave us a great tour. we couldn't have hired a better tour guide. needless
to say, he more than made up for the fare in the HUGE tip hubby gave him.
He was very thankful and gracious, and we were beaming!!! Had other good
cab rides that week, but none compared with that fellow. Cleo
* I have traveled
the world and somehow all the poorest drivers end up as cabbies for me
when I visit Las Vegas. They are constantly cutting in and out of
traffic and making some interesting rules of the road as they drive.
Always an experience to see if I can win at the casinos and make it safely
to the airport with the money. Bob, NY
* Went to Vegas
for the first time, New Years Eve. Got into a taxi and the guy
constantly talked to me and paid very little attention to the road.
I could not wait to get out of that cab. Seems the drive like they
are the only person on the road. Glenn Meadows, CA
* Last time my
family and I were in Las Vegas we had the worst cab ride to the
airport. You would of thought this guy gets paid by the number of
traffic laws he broke. Scared the life out of us. Seemed he
said it was natural for cabbies to drive hard to make a living.
Living or not, it was not safe and we are happy to rent a car from now on
when we visit Las Vegas. Don Wanataba, HI
