Question in black type - Answer from our Readers in blue type
#1. What is your opinion of the
road system in Las Vegas? Even those who use cabs, what do you think
of the roads, the construction, the congestion, etc.?
* I enjoy driving
to Las Vegas but I wish the police would do something about the people
that run red lights. The construction I can handle, but the constant
red light running by cars, cabs and trucks is rediculous. If Las
Vegas wants to provide a safe haven for tourists then I suggest they
employ a few more motor cycle cops and crack down on this problem.

* The streets are
a mess to crowded. Need more trams. G.J. smith
* Las Vegas is
basically a gigantic grid, laid out in a relatively square pattern. There
is no diagonal pattern whatever. Thus you travel the two legs of a
triangle rather than the shorter hypotenuse where ever you go in the city.
It is also a city of single occupant automobiles. No one seems to share a
ride. The I-15 construction site has never been completed (and probably
never will) It is frustrating to barely drive at 15 MPH while reading the
posted speed limit of 65 MPH. It is easy for one to get any where in the
city with minimum knowledge of it. But it does take time and can be
frustrating. Parking is generally available for free or very reasonable
tokes to the valet drivers-a refreshing change from the extremely
expensive parking fees in most large cities. HBHWANGO
* I was there for
the CES convention. What a mess. We rented a car. And tried to find a
place to park. And when we did it cost us $20. No we were not happy. But I
do like it that we could park at all the hotels free. Otherwise we
wouldn't of rented a car. We stay at the Monte Carlos and that is a
nightmare to cross the street walking. We run for our lives. I feel sorry
for the older people it is hard for them to jog across the street. I think
they should have policemen there to direct the traffic. Or get an overhead
walkway there. We are on vacation and expect all that comes with Vegas and
their traffic problems. No road rage here. Just hope they can solve some
of their problems. I would like to see a tram going to all the hotels. And
not one you have to get out of and walk the casino to catch another one. I
think it would benefit all of them. We try and visit as many as casinos we
can in a week. And that is tough job to do. But we love it there.

* Las Vegas is
soon becoming a miniature Los Angeles. The traffic is really bad and
the conventions are always crowded, not to mention the road construction
that always seems to be going on the same time. Does the road
department not read your web site and determine when the big conventions
are? Harold T. IL
