As mentioned in this week IVLV newsletter, the famous Bonanza Gift Shop has a new owner and the selling price for the 2-acre parcel was $50 million. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question do you think this property should continue as the worlds largest gift shop or be replaced with a condo project or some other new use? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you. (See other Readers’ opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

I think it should remain a gift shop. For as many years as i can remember it has been a gift shop and it is nice to have some old tradition of las vegas past still standing. Wendi B. Tuscon, AZ

It would make a great place for a high rise condo project and if they were not to much money it might get my interest. Paul Snyder, Canada

Maybe leave it as a goft shop or at least if you build a condo high rise project include a huge gift shop on the groud floor. Daniel J, Atlantic City, NJ

Keep it as the original gift shop it is, Vegas has already done away with many Original landmarks, casinos and Las Vegas neon signs that made Vegas what it is now, I know that speaking for myself, I truly appreciate some originality from the old days! John Los Angeles, Ca.

Growing up in Vegas this is somewhere I have visited dozens of times over the years with friends and relatives visiting. I would really hate to see the building removed and replaced with some boring highrise. With that said, paying $50 million certainly is a huge sum of money and to maximize a return might dictate building a highrise. Ann S. Boulder City, NV

I hope they tear it down and put up a nightclub that does not charge $700 for a bottle of booze i can buy at any store for $30. Mike Jacobs, TX

I really don't care what he does with it, it's none of my business and it won't improve the quality of my life no matter what is done with it. But I'm sure he sold it to someone who plans on expanding the northern edge of the Strip and will tear down the gift shop to build a casino with easy access to the interstate. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he tore down everything on that corner to build a mega casino to compete with SLS and the Stratosphere. In Las Vegas, that's called progress. Sharon Robinson Chicago

It needs to continue as is! I go there everytime I visit Vegas which is 4 times a year. Ann Brenner Steamboat Springs

Let it stay a gift shop. Tony Russo Syracuse
