Halloween is almost upon us and that means costumes for all those who participate in the yearly holiday. Beware, casinos are not happy with costumes and they do not allow masks to be worn in the casino area. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question do you think it is a good or bad policy to have a “no mask policy” within the casinos area?   What is your opinion?  We want to hear from you!   (See other readers’ opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

My concern for people wearing masks and the security of the casino, so may be it is a good idea to have no masks.   Jennifer Jones.  CA

Halloween is for children.  Casinos are for adults.  Masks are mainly used to hide your idenity Want to wear a mask? Stay out of any casino!   Stephen Samac Cleveland, Ohio

I absolutely agree with the no mask policy in casino areas, there is already an unsettled feeling when you enter the gaming areas of even the most prestigous casinos, allowing masks would only compound the feeling. Every year there are masks/costumes that are popular and any theif could easily choose one of these to hide their identity and blend in
with the crowd leaving every patron at higher risk.  Janice Dalmazzi  Las Vegas, NV

It's a good policy primarily for the safety of the employees and patrons. With the fear of robberies and other harm that can be done in the casino area, it is best that no one is wearing a mask which can disguise or hide the physical features of the robber. Irene Arakaki  Las Vegas C

This question is a no-brainer. Under no circumstances should you be allowed to wear a mask and hide your identity while in a casino. You wouldn't ask if you could wear a mask in a bank, and casinos are Very Large Banks! If you are an adult and feel the need to wear a costume or a mask, find a party elsewhere to attend!   Deb  Westerville

It is a great idea. There is too much money on the line to allow masks. This is better for customer security and obviously casino security. Kurt Rickhoff O'Fallon/IL

I think the no mask policy is a great policy. It protects not only the employees, but the patrons as well. Their safety and security must come before a Halloween celebration. The only mask allowed should be your Poker Face!  Dawn Buonconsiglio Ronkonkoma NY

I agree. There are a lot of whackos out there and I think its for the safety of the staff as well as other patrons. You can't wear one in a bank, why should you be able to wear one in a casino with all that money around?  Lorryn Zephier  Scottsdale, AZ

With all the shooting etc around the country, it`s best to leave no doubt about a persons intentions. No mask policy assures some comfort when confronted with a person during Halloween. This assures some degree of comfort for all.  Stan Maxwell  Everett, Wa

I agree with the no mask rule. But, a casino could host a party for those with mask. Pick a room like a big meeting room. Bring slot machines and table games in there. The ones with suits and mask can go in there ONLY and where their mask and party.Who knows, that casino may make a lot of money with this.  Steve   Sedalia, mo
