The economy seems to be affecting all persons and companies and that includes Las Vegas casinos. Las Vegas casinos stock prices has been taking a real beating, I guess they do not always win after all. Usually, the general public bets against casinos and hopes they lose, which brings us to an interesting question. This week’s Reader Poll question asks the question . . . Would you ever consider buying Las Vegas casino stocks and bet with the casino?  What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!

Reader Poll Replies:

Personally, I never thought about buying casino stock.  I guess it makes sense, no one really wins every time.  Ralph H.  New York City, NY

I am watching some of the more popular Las Vegas casino stocks and to be perfectly honest I like the fact they are not doing well.  Unfortunately casinos always win in the end so I am sure it is just a matter of time before they all go back to winning big.  Doris S.  San Francisco, CA

Great question and I too have never considered buying shares of a casino, it kinda has a sexy feeling knowing that you can loose money to yourself.  Victor Hodges, TX

We sure would I guess we never though that they were publicly traded so thanks for the idea.  Barbara Knick  Normal Illinois

For the past seventy-nine years I have seen the stock market go up and down like an elevator.  It's been down in the past, but it always goes back up, sooner or later.  That's why I feel that this is a perfect time to buy a respectable casino stock.  The price is low, but, guaranteed, it will go up !  Herbert Baron  Weston, Massachusetts

i would not buy stocks in a casino. to much risk for me.  gary smith south bend, in

Sounds to risky to me, with the economy the way it is I can't afford to take any chances.  Ronald L Sharp  Pleasant Hill Ia

of course i would. listen if you follow the market and are familar with what a stock was worth and have the money to invest mid to long term it makes complete sense to take stock in casinos. do some research and see what the high was just a year ago and what it is now. then determine from there. realize it may never hit the high it once was
but nonetheless if its low now, i mean down 20% or more buy, buy buy. the economy will rebound and make you money. takes money to make money.   Ralph  Hamden CT

Yes I would, matter of fact I think the Sands and Wynn are good buys right now. Should have bought Wynn a long time ago, Don't you always bet on winners?  Steve Giandalia

Yes I would buy Las Vegas casino stock. It may be going down but it will go up again. People a lot smarter than I am own the casino's and they invested in them. What does that tell you.  Stephen   Sedalia,mo

Heh, heh. Me, buy stocks? I'm still trying to decide whether or not to "let it ride" or if I should "double down" Me, buys stocks? Thanks for the laugh...  Steven Tillinger  Cleveland, OH

I did own casino stocks..I took a beating on them.I don't plan on investing in them again any time soon! I held IGT for the long term (over 8 years) dumped it with a big lose..I had high hopes for IGT.. it seems all aspects of the gaming world are not fairing well. Maybe that's why they call it a gamble!  Exyooper   Milwaukee,Wi

First, it's Lose, not Loose. And yes, absolutely I would consider buying casino stocks and bet with the house. Even without knowing the odds... Joyce Heard  Holiday, FL
