As mentioned in IVLV Newsletter, the Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino are back on track to open in late 2016. This week’s Reader Poll question asks.... do you think an all Asian theme casino will work in Las Vegas? We want to hear from you. What is your opinion? (See other Readers’ opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

I like the idea of a Asian theme. Maybe they will not tear it down in a few years just to get something else more shinny or glitzy. B Tang Houston TX

My opinion is why not. We have almost every other type of casino, it might be night to have a cultural theme rather than some ugly building. Irene Baker Tucson AZ

Yes, it will work, but only because Asian guests will visit. Visitors to Las Vegas are not progressive. They are rather xenophobic and will likely shun the place because it is not American. Since one of our political candidates has said that China is "raping" the United States, supporters of said candidate might be afraid to visit there. Kip Abelson SAlem, MA

Though conceptually a good idea, I don't think a small casino will be able to compete with the large hotels to have any meaningful impact on the Asian (gambling)market. It may be able to sustain itself but it will hardly become a desired destination for the true gamblers. In my opinion, this is a akin to a Hooters hotel not only with location (i.e. slightly off-strip) but also with it's unique theme. Will it work? Probably. Will it be an overwhelming success? No. Rich Krause Zion, IL

I see this as a nice place to visit once, but I am not stopping the world to spend my vacation time there. Themes are good but to be competitive with the billion dollar casinos is impossible. Linda Johnson Tucson AZ

The Asian concept is good and i will try it once to see how it feels. Like all new items in Vegas they go great in the beginning but time will tell. Lawrence Kim San Francisco CA

Yes, I do especially since so many whales are Asians. There are also other groups who would feel comfortable in that environment. Ralph Barker Ellijay, GA

I believe with good management, player incentives, promos and location just about any themed casino can make it in Vegas. Keep it fresh! Hannah Wessing Rochester IL
