It appears that not everyone that visits or lives in Las Vegas believe in keeping the city clean and the litter problem is escalating each year. Enough is enough. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question, what should be the fine for people who liters from a vehicle?  What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!

Reader Poll Replies:

I believe people have no respect for themself or their surroundings to they through trash out of their car as if they owned the world.  If you fined them $1000 for the first offense and keep doublng it for every incident after that, liter would not be a problem.  Howard W.  Tampa FL

Litter is a big problem all over the country.  We must fine people big money that's the only way they'l learn.  Jim Miller  MA

$100 to $250 if second offense.  KH Cahill  Dallas, TX

A minimum of $250! With all the money put into Las Vegas for us tourists to have fun or even to lose money, disrespectful people have to trash up the place for no reason. They should also be made to clean up some streets and sidewalks as an added punishment!  Donald D. Turner  Brunswick, Me.

8 hours of cleaning up trash the first time, 40 hours the next plus court costs.  Greg   Palm Bay, FL

Make them pay $1,000 per offense, that will clean up the city fast.  D . A.  Illinois.

50 dollars for cigarette butt or flamable object. 25 dollars for paper or other debris.  Dick Doyle  Las Vegas

boy this subject really bothers me. just yesterday i was at a local taco bell and decided to eat lunch in the parking lot. as i was i noticed a car not far from me open its back window, maybe for some air i thought, no, no to throw out the wrappers was why. being an old hippie as i am i always throw trash in bins. to me someone who does this and is seen should face a fine. make it $100. this may teach them to keep our planet clean. it will be hard to uphold as police have enough to do.  ralph  hamden,ct

People who litter the streets of Las Vegas should be fined a minimum of $100.00 for the first offense and each additional offense there should be $50.00 added. After the third offense, there should be jail time along with the fine. Its a pity that these offenders do not appreciate the city that has provided so much entertainment for them.  Samuel Chen  Deckerville, MI

It depepends. If the cops are really going out there and get them,a lot of them. Then fine them $100.00 If they are not really going after them. And are just looking for a reason to wish the proble away, then put up signs that say 10,000 dollares for the rats.  steve  sedalia,mo

I have no tolerance for disrespect I advocate a fine of 500 dollas or 10 hours community service to clean up roadsides! By the way, I answer these all the time, why have I not won something yet? Hey Mr Reed, give me a break Im going to be there twice in the next 2 months! Thank ya!  Nick Ogle  Knoxville, TN

The fine should be $300.00 and court costs, clean up the strip during peak times especially picking up all the post cards thats trying to sell women.   angela gardier  cleveland

I just hate it when someone throws stuff out the window of their car. They have no respect for anyone, and should be punished accordingly. I think a fine of $100 is the way to go. Maybe someone will think twice before they throw stuff out of the window, again.  Steven Tillinger
