The Official Star Trek Convention at the Rio Casino will be August 9-12 and is expected to be the biggest and best Star Trek convention of all time. The  attendees last year came from all over the world to share their love for Gene Roddenberry's amazing legacy. Expected appearances are by William Shatner (Captain Kirk), Avery Brooks (Commander/Captain Sisko), Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway) and Scott Bakula (Captain Archer) and approximately 70 more stars. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question do you think more conventions of this type should be scheduled for Las Vegas?  What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!  (See other readers’ opinions below.)

I think these type of conventions is much better than the drug related music festivals that seems to end up with many arrests and an occasional death.  Robin J.  Miami FL

Ideally any convention is good to have in las vegas.   Roger Smith  TX

Conventions are huge money makers and every thing should be tried to attract more to las vegas.   Linda J.

Even though conventions take up a lot of room and some times makes it harder to get a good room rate, i thing without conventions the room cost throughout the year would be much higher.   Wayne Jenson IL

Does not matter to me, i drive in to gamble and never go to any conventions.  David Vo

Yes, bring more conventions to las vegas but allow the general public to attend.  James Dawson  FL
