Nearly 40 years after the death of The King, Elvis Presley, the city of Las Vegas finally named a street after him. Elvis Presley Blvd. has replaced the famous Riviera Blvd. This week Reader Poll asks the question do you think other famous people should have a street named after them somewhere in Las Vegas? What is your opinion? We want to hear from you. (See other Readers’ opinions below.)

Las vegas has renamed Riviera Blvd to be now called Elvis Presley blvd, what do you think of this an should there be other famous people who should have streets named after them.

Reader Poll Replies:

I cannot believved it took 40 years for the city to get their act together for an elvis street. Linda Coleman Diamond Bar, CA

My thought is Elvis is a good name for a street but what about some of the true fore fathers of the city, the real socalled gangster which were just creative business persons. Bernie S. Reno NV

Thre should be a lot of people named on streets that Las Vegas city has overlooked. Not sure why it takes 40 years to get a street named for the King. Lanny K. Denver CO

Well Absolutely! I can totally picture visitors to Las Vegas taking photos of themselves by streets such and Donnie and Marie St and Liberace Lane! How fun! Tina Las Vegas, NV

Might as well, what else better to name a street by a famous millionaire. The whole town should be called "The Great and Powerful OZ!" Lol Kim McCormick Greenwood, Indiana

I don't see why not, he did perform in Las Vegas. You also have Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin to name a couple of others. I, personally think its great! Kathie Loch Bloomington, MN

Why not. As fast as everything changes in Las Vegas, why not the street names. Take Sahara Avenue as an example, there is no longer a Sahara Casino and most of the newby visitors have never heard of the Sahara desert. Why not name it Scrooge Maureen Boulevard after the famous person who decided to charge us for parking. Howard Indianapolis IN

Call it whatever you want but i see no reason to remove old history to make new. There are many streets named after generic items a city coul easily replace without takng away from history. Bad idea the way they are doing it. Glenn Phoenix AZ
