The upcoming Las Vegas Mayor race will have numerous issues, but none more controversial than the legalization of Nevada prostitution. Nevada has 9 out of 17 counties that have legalized prostitution with strict regulations, however, Clark County, where Las Vegas is located, and the remaining 7 other higher populated counties do not allow prostitution. This week’s Reader Poll asks the question . . . With the need to raise money to help Nevada with the state deficit, should Clark County / Las Vegas legalize prostitution?  What is your opinion? We want to hear from you!  (See other readers opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

I think anyway you can gather income without raising taxes is ok with me.    Ronald S.  AZ

Since it has been legal in other counties for years, why not in Vegas.  It would bring a lot more people and money into Las Vegas.  Cindy Sawyer

I think they should just leave the prostitution in the counties where it is at now.  Pamela Barron Las Vegas

I think prostitution should be legalized in at least Clark County, if not throughout Nevada. Perhaps an area built around the concept similar to the old "Combat Zone" in Boston where all the strip clubs were in a central location. This could be somwhere off the Strip,
but still close enough for tourists to visit, if so inclined. The money could help defray the budget deficit.  Bob Krupinski Rockville, Md.

Makes no difference to me, i am to old to consider those services.   wayne J.

Yes, I believe that they should legalize prostitution in the other counties to further collect taxes on it. It will provide much needed monies to the State. It will also more than likely increase tourists to Las Vegas if it is legalized there.  Chuck Smith  Corydon, IN

Why not....... The have found loop holes to get around selling medical marijuna why not continue to provide a safe service to those people interested in that service.  I never heard of a person having sex and then committing a crime because they were stoned.  Roger Vasquez

It makes no difference to me. I come to vegas to gamble.   R Stevens.
