Another year has passed and another attempt at a legalized state lottery has been killed in Legislature. Supporters of a Nevada lottery say it would bring in $40 to $60 million per year for Nevada education system. Lotteries are allowed in 44 states, but not in Nevada. Do you think Nevada should have a lottery? Why or why not?  What is your opinion? We want to hear from you! (See other readers opinions below.)

Reader Poll Replies:

I feel lotteries are good for all states and every one should have one to help pay for education.   Debbie R   Houston Texas

Very doubtful the greedy casino owners would allow a Nevada state lottery.  If they did not get their share of the take, then no way would it ever pass, even though it has done great economic windfall for other states education system.   Dr. Thomas

Making a lottery for Las Vegas would be great.   Rhonda

I think a lottery would be a good idea if I could buy tickets in my state for it.   Andy Holtz

This would be a bad idea.  The casinos would not want to back any gambling adventure they did not control.  Betty  Carson City, NV

Considering other states makes a fortune to help subsidize the school system, i see no reason why Nevada cannot do the same.  Benjamin Spencer

The way i see it why not.... either the casinos or the state are going to end up with my money anyway.  Robert Los Angeles, CA
