The Quintessential Crooner - Andy
DiMino Andy DiMino has
been entertaining audiences for practically his entire life.
Growing up in Southern California, his high school rock bands
opened Hollywood club shows for groups like "The Doors" and
"Iron Butterfly." Playing the ski circuit in Colorado led to an
album with RCA as a founding member and songwriter for the band
"First Fire" and later tour dates as keyboard player/singer with
Mary MacGregor ("Torn Between Two Lovers").
After a successful run, DiMino
decided to leave the club circuit to stay close to home and
raise his son. He focused on songwriting, and worked as a solo
musician/singer in restaurants and pubs.
Eventually wanting to expand his
career, DiMino set out for Las Vegas. Once in Vegas, DiMino grew
as an actor and improv talent, and landed several impressive
contracts, appearing in TV commercials, a "Tonight Show" comedy
sketch with Jay Leno, and a Kenny Rogers TV movie.
DiMino's path crossed that of Las
Vegas legend Buddy Greco, and he was asked to work as production
manager on Greco's live radio broadcasts of his big band dance
show from the Flamingo "Vegas Live Tonite!" Impressed with
DiMino's vocal style, Greco arranged a big band vocal chart for
DiMino to sing on stage with his band, and it was here that
DiMino was introduced to, and felt right at home under, the
glamorous Vegas Showroom lights.
Taking in all the flavors of Las
Vegas, DiMino demonstrated his diversity as an entertainer,
performing a range of characters from a medieval minstrel at the
Excalibur Hotel & Casino, to Caesar himself at Caesar's Palace,
to a mandolin/guitarist with the strolling opera group at the
Venetian Hotel & Casino, singing the Italian/American songs of
none other than Dean Martin!
Ever since childhood, DiMino has
been enamored with the crooning style and magnetic appeal of the
charismatic Dean Martin, having grown up watching his shows, and
collecting CDs, videos and books on the beloved entertainer.
DiMino has since honed his Dean
Martin skills to perfection, and has been performing as Martin
in numerous shows, concerts and corporate events, earning the
acclaim of critics and fans alike.
With his love for music and comedy of the Rat Pack generation,
his close physical resemblance to Dean Martin and an Italian
background (DiMino's father and all four grandparents were from
Sicily), it looks like Andy DiMino has truly found his calling. |
